About Coaching

Coaching...
shishishushu or really helpful?

Coach is not a protected term and while in the sports environment it has a strong positive and almost reverential connotation (soccer players often see the coach as their boss, personal coaching in the gym testifies to a healthy lifestyle and means that you are worth something to yourself), in the psychological or mental context it is purely not. Here, coaching is often seen as synonymous with psychotherapy and accordingly stigmatized at least as much. However, the fact that mental coaching can be just as important and helpful as regular training with a personal coach in the gym is not yet recognized by society. Interestingly, however, high-ranking managers "treat" themselves to their personal mental coaches, yoga and meditation are hyped, mental health is on everyone's lips. With the others....but I am healthy.

You don't go to a coach because you're sick in any way, but because you want to get fitter and better. In terms of the body it is the muscles or the weight, in terms of one's personality it may be assertiveness, self-confidence, inner peace, dealing with challenges in job or private life, or simply support in a difficult decision in whatever context. Also mentally we humans can always become better, better to us and for us, and thus also to and for our environment.

My CoachingEducation

Why and what Coaching Education I did:

My mother is a social pedagogue and family therapist, which is why I was always in touch with reflection and the connection between personality, experience and individual decisions and life paths, even in my childhood. The interest in this always remained, especially in my development as a leader. Therefore, in 2019, I decided to follow this passion and for a coaching training. I completed this over one and a half years in six modules at Dietz und Partner and graduated as a coach for personality development.

The training enabled me to underpin the way I approach challenges with methods and systemic clues. This allows me to pass on my expertise in this area, live my passion and combine new methods with my previous experiences. You can find out more about my coaching services and focus areas below.

My CoachingStyle

Coaching is neither Consulting, nor Psychotherapy

Coaching does not mean consulting

If you come to me because you are hoping for advice and maybe even recommendations for action or decisions, then I have to disappoint you. Coaching means helping people to help themselves. That sounds so platitudinous, but it is just like having a personal coach at the gym: he or she cannot build muscles for you or eat less for you, but can only show you what you can do to reach your goal.

Coaching does not mean Psychotherapy

As a coach, I do not have a degree in psychology or medicine. Therefore, I cannot and do not want to work on certain concerns, because I lack knowledge, experience and also methods for this. Here I am talking specifically about depression, trauma or even a deep burnout. Coaching can only treat these issues to a certain extent, or can sometimes serve as a bridge until a suitable doctor or therapist has been found. For all those who are afraid of too much "psycho", this is probably good news. Again, you decide which issues you want to address and to what depth.

So, Coaching is in between consulting and psychotherapy - where exactly: you decide.

I chose different pictures of the sea for this section not without reason - on the one hand I like to be at the sea, on the other hand these pictures show very well that coaching can be helpful in many situations...or can lead from one to another, depending on where you want to go.

My CoachingStyle in detail

What does this now mean in detail?

It sounds simple: I ask you questions and I offer you methods to find your way - but you have to walk it yourself. I will accompany you and remind you, but you are the boss in our sessions. What you want to discuss, we discuss, structure it, illuminate it from different sides.

As with physical coaching, you need to know for yourself what areas are important to you, where you are overdoing it right now (and sore), and which "exercises" suit you and which do not.

In summary, I would describe my coaching style as "passive guide". By offering questions, reframing, visualizing or structuring what I hear, I can be a kind of guide through your jungle of thoughts and emotions. But I am not a guide who follows a fixed plan that the guests have to follow (this again is a certain difference to my private travel behavior). I can provide an overview of possibilities and ideas for exciting places, but the exact choice of what you want to see is yours. And that sounds kind of esoteric again....but somehow also very realistic :)

Become Coachee

You want to become Coachee?

First of all, I am very pleased.

You wonder if I can help you with your request?

Then here is some more information about my target group and my focus:

Due to my own professional history, I am particularly interested in the corporate environment, but I am also happy to meet employees of medium-sized companies, self-employed people (including start-up founders) or politicians. I am especially happy to accompany women in their professional and personal development. For better orientation, I have listed my (main) target groups in more detail below.

With what request can you come to me?

Thematically, I like to accompany the following challenges:

Inner dissatisfaction (often also frustration) with the current (professional) situation

  • but no idea how to go on / what to change
  • and an idea, but no courage / no plan to tackle the change

Challenges in the team / with colleagues / hierarchy levels (often with role issues)

  • As an employee
  • As a manager, especially young managers

Women who are struggling with their role in the company or who regularly face challenges with regard to their own career and life. Gladly also young women who are still at the beginning of their professional career or perhaps even still studying.

Mothers or fathers who are not satisfied with their role and are looking for personal (then often also in the broadest sense professional) development and ways to reconcile this with family and their demands.

Sounds interesting?

Then I look forward to hearing from you. I would be happy to explain to you in more detail what coaching means and what you can expect from me in a first meeting by phone or in person. Afterwards, you can decide whether you want to embark on this adventure.

The first meeting is free of charge in any case, after that I offer 90 minute sessions for 150€.

Normally a coaching process takes 3 to 6 sessions, which can extend over a period of 4 to 9 months (we will look at this individually).

Whether virtual or in person, you can decide, we can also try both.
